Brought in to modernize several mission-critical internal and customer-facing applications at a Fortune 500 leader in scientific instrumentation. Built the Instrument Configurator UI — a multi-step React builder with real-time 3D visualization. Led the UI architecture of the Supply Center Admin Portal, migrating it from legacy ColdFusion to a scalable React app, then led the migration of a legacy Android kiosk used in thousands of labs and supply centers worldwide to a modern React PWA with offline-first ordering, including the Android wrapper and global rollout plan. SmartLab inventory modernization concept placed 2nd of ~100 teams in an internal hackathon.

Led product design and UI development from pre-revenue to profitability ($2M+ in revenue) at an a16z-backed autonomous vehicle startup. Products included openpilot (rated #1 active driver assistance system by Consumer Reports), comma connect (4.5★ React Native app), and several dev tools and web apps. Authored the design system and component library used across all React Native apps. Contributed packaging, marketing, and industrial design for the panda, comma EON, and the flagship comma two device.

First frontend engineer at the insurance marketplace (acquired by Brown & Brown). Introduced RESTful APIs and React with Redux, and authored Treat — the company's themable UI toolkit covering CSS/SCSS, React, and a shared Sketch design library. After helping triple the engineering team, I transitioned to a mostly-design role and built the UX Design team.

Private network connecting PhD researchers and engineers with high-profile consulting opportunities — 1,500+ registered hackers and 20+ successful projects. Led UX, design, and frontend on a team of five. Built the "Insight" search engine for discovering engineering talent and a real-time job marketplace, on Python/Flask, Go, Postgres, Redis, AngularJS, and SCSS.

Food donation marketplace connecting event planners, grocers, and restaurants with shelters and food kitchens in the Bay Area. Drove the multi-perspective interfaces for donors, receiving organizations, and volunteer drivers, on Rails, Objective-C, Postgres, AngularJS, and SCSS. The interfaces I built helped recover over 650,000 pounds of food.

Skill-driven, review-based local employment marketplace with ambitious goals around solving unemployment. My first startup — designed and built the first version on Rails, MongoDB, Backbone.js, and LESS/CSS.

Internet hosting and web development firm (acquired by Rebel CIO). Point-of-contact for design projects — Photoshop mockups, email marketing templates, UX flows, and HTML/CSS/jQuery on top of ColdFusion and .NET.
